Maersk handles China transshipment in cabotage pilot

China has selected Maersk to lead a pilot scheme that relaxes the country’s strict cabotage rules prohibiting transshipment between Chinese ports by foreign carriers.

Being able to transship China cargo through Shanghai will complement Maersk’s existing transshipment hubs at Busan in South Korea, Singapore, and the Malaysian Port of Tanjung Pelepas. Photo credit: Shutterstock
